The Philippine Social Security System (SSS) is a state-run social insurance program that protects private-sector workers, self-employed individuals, and Overseas Filipino Workers against contingencies such as sickness, maternity, disability, old age, and death. Established in 1954 under Republic Act No. 1161 (now R.A. 8282), the SSS serves over 40 million members nationwide.
Going Digital: My.SSS Portal
The My.SSS portal at www.sss.gov.ph now hosts nearly 75% of all SSS services online, from membership registration and contribution payments to loan applications and benefit claims. The digital transformation eliminates the need to visit physical branches for routine transactions, saving members time and transportation costs.
What the My.SSS Portal Offers
The portal is divided into member-facing and employer-facing services. For individual members, the key services include online SS number issuance, My.SSS account registration, Payment Reference Number (PRN) generation for voluntary and self-employed contributions, salary and pension loan applications, submission of maternity and sickness notifications, membership records inquiry, and simulated retirement benefit computation.
For employers, the portal supports business registration, submission of the Employment Report (R1A) for newly hired employees, generation of PRNs for employee contributions, and access to the Annual Collection List and reportorial compliance tools.
The SSS Mobile App
Complementing the web portal, the MySSS mobile app is available for download on Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Huawei AppGallery. The app provides on-the-go access to PRN generation, loan applications, contribution inquiries, and branch locator services. Members can authenticate using facial or fingerprint biometrics for faster login.
Skip the Line, Go Online
SSS strongly encourages all members to activate their My.SSS accounts. During the ongoing energy crisis, remote access to services has become even more critical. Members who have not yet registered are urged to create their accounts through the SSS website, where a valid email address and an active mobile number are the primary requirements.
For unresolved concerns, members may reach the SSS hotline at 1455 or send an email to [email protected]. The main office is located at SSS Building, East Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
